I had a look at Bishopstone early morning in the hope of a Yellow browed Warbler but despite a good search I could not turn up one. I did see 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 4 Goldcrest, 15 Chiffchaff, 4 Blackcap, 6 Long tailed Tits, 1 Jay and 3 Skylark. I looked later on at Reculver where I walked the caravan park bushes and then had a stroll down the seawall and inland to Chambers Wall before walking back along the embankment. There seemed to have been a clear out of birds as it was generally quiet but I did note 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 1 Green Woodpecker, 3 Chiffchaff, 1 Jay, c15 Meadow Pipit, 7 Swallow, 12 Long tailed Tit, 7 Stonechat were in the area and provided me with a few photo challenges.
Stonechat
There were 3 Kestrel, 1 Peregrine, 1 Sparrowhawk, 14 Mute Swan, 1 Little Owl, c60 Linnet, 1 Wheatear, 6 Reed Bunting, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 27 Ringed Plover, 3 Common Buzzard, 1 Snow Bunting still in residence along the seawall, c80 House Martin flew west, 1 Curlew, 2 Oystercatcher and 1 Rock Pipit. The other birds of noted seen today were 3 Little Egret, c40 Wigeon, 1 Dunlin, 8 Redshank and 2 Kingfisher. One of the most exciting birding months starts tomorrow. I wonder what October will bring for us this year, hopefully a few rarities to the area.

Ah! I see you're on to the Stonechats as well Marc :-) I cant get very close to the ones here, there is nowhere for me to take cover when I sneak up on them!! LoL You've got some good images though!

Fantastic photos of the Stonechat.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the rating of 7 Stonechat in the Reculver area Marc please.
ReplyDeleteI had 7 but I think a few other birders had more in different areas. Wouldn't at all be surprised if there were 15+ in area. They seem to be everywhere at the moment.
