Evening Walk at Reculver!

For a change tonight I took a walk at Reculver arriving at 6.15pm where I spent nearly 2 hours walking down the seawall to Coldharbour and back in cloudy conditions. It was still quite warm with little wind and I hoped that maybe a good bird would be in the area as dusk approached, ideally a Montagu's Harrier or a singing Quail. Arriving on the seawall a scan inland around the caravan park revealed 1 Little Owl and 1 Kingfisher was seen at the sluice. Walking down the seawall produced 4 Swallow, 1 Whitethroat, 8 Oystercatcher, 1 Wheatear, 9 Ringed Plover, 5 Redshank, 4 Mallard, 2 Reed Warbler, 1 male Marsh Harrier and 1 Cuckoo was working the bushes up and down the seawall. I tried to get a few shots but every time a cyclist or jogger would appear as if by magic and the Cuckoo would move on. Maybe the next few weeks will see some more activity like a few years ago when I took the shot below.

Cuckoo

Other birds noted were 2 Kestrel, 4 Yellow Wagtail, 5 Shelduck, 2 Reed Bunting, 4 Mute Swan and 2 Swift flew west.
