A 'Beautiful' Session!

I noticed yesterday that Warren Baker had seen some Beautiful Demoiselles on his local patch as well as White legged Damselfly, 2 species I have never seen before so with this in mind I made a visit to the area late afternoon and thankfully Warren showed me around his local patch and even better, found the 2 target species which showed well in the afternoon sunshine. We managed to see 8 Beautiful Demoiselle which allowed me to fire off a number of shots but it proved quite tricky to get the light right on them.

Also seen were 8+ White legged Damselfly which again had us rattling off more shots, 3 Broad bodied Chaser, a few Azure Damselfly, lots of Large Red Damselfly and 1 Hairy Dragonfly.

A few butterflies were noted including 1 Comma, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 1 Peacock, 1 Holly Blue, 2 Speckled Wood and a few 'Whites'. An excellent session and always nice to see a new species and get a few photos of them. Many thanks to Warren for his local knowledge and showing me around and no doubt I will return soon to see those adult male White legged Damselflies!

  1. Those White-legged were females and immature females according to Greenie, :-) He knows about these things !

I'm pleased you got your shots, although the wind didn't help, and the light was a bit wrong, but they will be around for a while yet I suspect, so have another go, I think you did better than me!
