Thank you America!

One of my highlights of 2025 was seeing and photographing my first 'Kent' aurantiaca female Scarce Blue-tailed Damselflies. Having only seen one once in the New Forest over 10 years ago, to suddenly see a bright orange carrot matchstick perched up in the long grass was very rewarding. They really are quite small and delicate to watch and study. They only spend a few days in this form before maturing up but this year at Sandwich Bay, it was great to find a few of this still, very rare Kent Damselfly. It would be nice to think that they can continue to go from strength to strength at Sandwich Bay and given the habitat there, there is every chance of this.
On another note, I have been stunned this month by the number of visitors to 'Kent Dragonflies'. Normally, I get about 6000 visits each month but this month, I must thank America who seem to have found my blog. So far this month, I have had over 51,000 visits with about 2,500 visits each day. It's certainly nice to know that someone is looking in occasionally. Thank you.

  1. A bit lost for words here Marc. The damselfly is simply the best, and your visitor numbers are impressive. I suspect something is happening re US visits to your blog, I also have a huge increase in numbers, not as huge as yours, but 3,000+ to a post last week is very rewarding, and as you say 'nice to know someone is looking in'.

    Regards Pete.

    1. Many thanks Pete. This Damselfly is simply stunning. The colours are amazing. Good news on the stats. Seems a few of us are getting more views...either that or a glitch in the blogger system. I hope they are views. Take care.

  2. How lovely! Thank you very much for sharing this aurantiaca female damselfly. I agree with you and Pete, my blog is also receiving thousands of visits from the US, I have no idea why. It's only happened during the last 30 days, when I've received 17,000 visits. It's crazy!

    1. Glad we are all getting more views. As you say, the past month has been crazy. Not sure of the reasons but I'm not complaining. Take care.

  3. Hi Marc. I was lucky to see the glorious form in Bulgaria this year. Absolutely amazing insects. I too have had many American visits to the blog that's been building up over the past couple of months. Maybe they need to look at something natural to cheer themselves up!!
