With the temperatures on Saturday in the low 30's, it was even too hot for some of the Norfolk Hawkers with quite a few found sheltering in the shady areas. Some hardy individuals were however patrolling the ditches and dykes and gave me a few photo opportunities. With a bit of patience and fieldcraft, I was able to get into a few positions where they were regularly landing and not spook them. This then enabled me to get a little nearer and obtain a few pleasing images, before I too, had to retreat to the shade for a while before I ventured back out again for a few more photos. Just a stunning species which I love spending time with and always a treat when they pose for a few shots, which this species likes to do.
The Norfolk Hawker continues to move northwards, now within 20 miles of me in North Lancashire. Stunning images of a stunning dragon Marc.
