With most of 2015 dominated by dragonfly and damselfly photography, the camera was certainly very busy where throughout the year, I was able to take a number of pleasing photos of a variety of species. Highlights included seeing my first ever Common Club tailed Dragonflies and excellent views of the rare Southern Migrant Hawkers. Even eclipsing this was watching and photographing the whole emergence of the Emperor Dragonfly late at night. In fact, there were so many highlights I could keep on going. With so many favorites to choose from, I have decided to post them in two parts and hope that you get as much pleasure looking at them as I did photographing them.

I will post the next installment in a few days time when you have recovered after looking at this selection!
Looking at these images just makes me long for summer even more Marc! Lovely set of ''emergencies'', not something I get to see on my patch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Warren. You can almost feel the 'warmth' in the photos. Certainly excited already for next year and the challenges ahead.
DeleteBloody ell! These are amazing!! Thanks for your comment, but I wasn't meant to put the YLG on my blog as you could see I had not finished. If you didn't email me, I wouldn't of even known that I had published it. I guess I was in a rush to go and play football and pressed publish instead of save. I've added same more pics now. Thanks again mate
ReplyDeleteI did wander about the writing at the top. I thought you must have been drinking. Many thanks for your kind words.
DeleteMy enjoyment of these marvelous photos is tainted by my horribly gnawing envy! I am kidding about it being tainted, and I know how much effort you put into achieving these splendid images. I never tire of looking at them. But my envy is real ...
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Wilma. Nice to know they are appreciated by others. Makes it all worthwhile.
DeleteBreathtaking….all of them, Marc. The 4 you've selected of the emergence still kinda leave me speechless ;o). Such a rare sight, so intimate and so beautiful. You've captured them perfectly. Not sure how you're going to top those next year, lol!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Lucy. I think you are quite right. I don't know how i can beat them but i will certainly give it a go and set myself a few new challenges. The emergence of a Hairy Dragonfly is pretty much the first top target.
DeleteWow,great selection Marc,fantastic to see,your last shot,is beyond words.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what delights you give us next year.
John.
Many thanks John. Iv'e certainly enjoyed it and look forward to the new year and challenges.
DeleteBeautiful series of Dragonflies, one needs something to beat you Marc.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. Its been a good year with the camera on the odonata front. Hopefully a few winter nymphsessions planned through the colder months.
DeleteThese images are truly amazing and oh so beautiful, Marc! My usual benchmark for wildlife photography which I aspire to (one has to set one's targets high!) is Noushka. I'm now adding you in there!
ReplyDeleteWith my very best wishes for Christmas and (especially the summer of) the New Year - - Richard
Many thanks Richard. Like you, I aspire to Noushka's work. Truly stunning photography. Best wishes to you for a Merry Christmas.
