The Factors all Come Together For Once!

As most photographers will tell you, there are a number of factors that you need in order to be able to get the shots you want, the subject needs to be present and showing nicely, the sun needs to be out and good light available, the wind needs to be not that strong and its easier if you are on your own so you can shoot away and play with different angles without worrying about anyone else getting in the way. Well today after work these factors all fell into place nicely when I made another visit to the south of Reculver at Highstead to see if the Red veined Darter was still present. I had not long arrived when I caught sight of the male Red veined Darter resting on the top of the wheat heads and showing nicely. I got myself into a nice position and started firing away the shots, varying the angles to try to catch this little stunner on the camera.

Eventually the Darter flew on to the path to catch some heat allowing yet more nice views. I left the Darter in peace and walked on c100 yards before returning where I noted 2 Emperor Dragonfly, 1 Common Darter, 5 Black tailed Skimmer and remarkably another male Red veined Darter, yes 2 Red veined Darter, wow. Making sure it was not the same one I made my way back where the other Darter was still in position on the path catching the sun.

All we need now is to find a female to complete the picture! Derek Smith arrived not long after and after a chat and putting him on to the Red veined Darter I made my way home with a few photos in the bag. With the weather looking very good over the next few days I'm sure I will be back checking what else has turned up their and hopefully a few good Dragonflies will turn up elsewhere over the weekend. Once again some of these shots look noisy unlike the originals I did in Photoshop which may lead me to move away soon from Blogger and look to get a better quality website.

  2. Marc, I reckon your sensor needs a clean.
Quite visible dust spots in these because you have been stopping down for dof.
And yes, anything to do with google and images generally is awful unless you can specify exactly what it is you want. It is possible that google is adding saturation etc as you upload, which basically destroys your files. THe whole thing is designed for people with iphones!
    cheers

I can clearly see what you mean and have noticed this. I have borrowed the 10d off a friend while my 50d is having the shutter button fixed which is a pain in the bum.

  4. Tis a shame about the dust and noise Marc, but they are still good shots mate :-) Good luck with the weekends Dragon hunting!
