Sunny Sunday!

Another glorious morning of sunshine had me leaving home at 5.15am where I drove down to Reculver and after parking up walked down to Coldharbour and back. Birds noted were 3 Little Owl, 2 Whitethroat, 7 Sandwich Tern, 1 Kestrel, 8 Oystercatcher, 4 Skylark, 2 Reed Warbler, 9 Meadow Pipit, 2 Shelduck, 3 Little Egret, 4 Ringed Plover, 7 Redshank and 7 Teal offshore. There were 4 Tufted Duck, 2 Curlew, 2 Reed Bunting, 1 Common Tern, 1 Grey Heron and 5 Small Tortoiseshell. With the temperature warming up nicely I thought I would take a trip over to Highstead to see what Dragonflies were on the wing and ideally try to photograph an Emperor Dragonfly, a mission I have yet to accomplish. On arrival I met Chris Tedder who had seen a male Red veined Darter prior to my arrival but that was the only sight of it as I could not relocate it. I did see a few Emperor but none ever looked like resting and posing for shots, I will have to change tactics here somehow. I did have a good hour or so seeing 2 Four spotted Chaser which gave the excuse for the start of some photography.

Also noted were c8 Black tailed Skimmer, c20 Common Darter, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Meadow Brown, 1 Red Admiral,  1 Small Skipper, 2 Large Skipper and hundreds of Common Blue Damselfly. Just maybe I will have this camera back in the week and be able to get a few more quality shots!
