Still on the Wing

With a brief spell of sunshine this afternoon which didn't last that long, I was tempted out to a site near Reculver to see if any dragonflies were still on the wing. On arrival I spent about 30 minutes walking around where I found 2 Migrant Hawker resting up. I managed a few shots which required some in camera flash but the results were still quite pleasing, despite the 'busy' background. It wasn't really that warm so I wasn't surprised to see much more but I hope there still might be a few Common Darter and the odd Willow Emerald Damselfly lurking around. There is currently quite a bit of soil excavation taking place on site but hopefully having spoke to a few people there, the water will be left alone for the wildlife. Maybe if the weather is alright over the weekend, I can return when I have more time to see whats about.

  3. Nice to see your super images of these still in good condition, Marc. Seems like you're having better weather down south than we are up here. Will be looking out for straggling mixtas if we get the promised sunshine up here this weekend!

    Best wishes - - Richard

  4. Nymph hunting sounds like fun, presumably you'll be the shepherd.

    1. Something to keep me occupied throughout the winter months. Even better is that I can sit in the warm conservatory with a cuppa and take my photos in a tank.
