With the thought of migrants arriving at Reculver I had a 15 minute look before work around the car park area and checked all the rocks in case any migrants were lurking. Unfortunately still no Black Redstart but I did see 2 Scandinavian Rock Pipit. After work the sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was little wind so I decided to pop over to Reculver to see If I could get a few more shots of the Barn owl which often comes out at a reasonable time. On arrival a scan revealed no Owl but 2 Canada Geese were showing in the sun so this give me the excuse to get a little nearer to get some shots. I was able to get into a good position and rattle off a number of shots as they happily stood watching me.
Canada Geese
Leaving them in peace I walked a flooded field noting 3 Snipe while overhead 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Common Buzzard and 1 Kestrel passed over. There were 2 Skylark in song and another scan for the Owl proved good as I could see it patrolling the fields. I made my way nearer but it never come close enough for a good shot, normally a dyke was always in the way but it perched briefly allowing me to grab a shot. It passed by one more time before moving off to hunt in the distance. Always a good day when you see a Barn Owl hunting in bright sunshine.
