With the dragonfly season now over and what appears to be a long wait until next Spring for them to emerge again, I have plenty of photos to go through of the many trips I made this year. I expect there are hundreds of photos I am even to look at for the first time but hopefully this will pass the winter months away, as well as a bit of dragonfly and damselfly nymph photography. One of my favourite sessions was trying to capture an Emperor Dragonfly in flight and with that, as much detail as I could. Most individuals I found didn't give me much chance but after a good few weeks of trying, I eventually found a patrolling male that continued to make the same circuit of its territory and I was able to get into a few good positions and take a number of pleasing photos. Thankfully this male was at times quite inquisitive and flew quite close allowing me to grab the odd closer image and try to capture the detail. I ended up with a good selection of shots and some of which, I was very pleased with. I will endevour next season to see if any improvements can be made of which I hope there is a little room for improvement. With the year coming to an end, I will soon put together some of my favourite shots throughout the dragonfly season and post in the next few weeks. Plenty to choose from, its been a good season for the camera at times!
