More From The 'Dew' Files

Having took a good number of dewy Red veined Darter images at the weekend, I have finally had time to go through some of the other photos and thankfully, I have not been disappointed by some of the results. Having used a tripod for some of the images and moving the angle of the shot slightly, its amazing how the light can be affected from shot to shot. I'm still buzzing at some of the results but if you put the time in and take enough photos, you will get those shots in the end. With a cold snap moving this way in the next few days, there may not be too many more days out photographing the dragonflies but with 2 weeks off from next week, I hope there may be the odd day that encourages a few to fly and show for a photo or two. It will also soon be time to clean out the tanks and go on the lookout for a few dragonfly and damselfly nymphs to photograph throughout the winter period when all is quiet. In the mean time, a few more of my favourite shots from the weekend session to illustrate some of the subtle differences of background colour etc and the pure satisfaction of obtaining some some well worked for photos.

I think out of the whole set that the shot below ticks all the boxes for me and has to be one of my faves of the year.

  2. Stunning images Marc...and the last one?..Wow!...a real winner, for sure...[;o)

    Q. I assume that there's lots of other vegetation around so, without giving away too many 'trade secrets'... how do you manage to get such clear backgrounds?

    1. Many thanks for your comment. On this occasion I temoved a few close bits of stick and dead grass so the branch was the highest point. In the background was long green grass and I was able to achieve the clean background in this way.

  3. Brilliant again Marc.

Lots of people won't have seen the dragonfly in these circumstances, I certainly have'nt seen anything like it. Once more for good measure....BRILLIANT MARC.
