Sunny Willows!

As mentioned in my last post, I spent quite a few hours out on Saturday at a site near Reculver in near perfect conditions. Whilst most species have come and gone throughout the season, we are lucky to still have one specialty on the wing, the Willow Emerald Damselfly. I spent quite a while searching for them and managed to find a few but had to wait for some to descend a little lower before I could take some photos. Even then it was still an issue as many had noisy backgrounds, were facing the wrong way or wrong colour backgrounds, the excuse list can go on and on! Eventually I took a number of photos of this nationally rare but starting to spread species and ended up with a few pleasing images. I did have one individual which took a liking to resting on my camera lens, not often you say they are too close for photos but in this instance, a bit to close but I shouldn't moan, it was nice to be able to study it at close quarters. I'm still on the lookout for a mating pair of the Willow Emerald Damselflies but so far this photo eludes me but the search will go on. I also took a few more shots of the Migrant Hawkers which I shall post in the next few days.

  1. If you want the quality images, which these are Marc, you have to be fussy :-) Brilliant shots mate, well worked for.

    1. Cheers Warren. I always like the challenge of trying to put the shot together in my head, then hopefully executing it with the camera. Pretty happy how they turned out.
