Drawn Back To Norfolk!

Having not visited Westbere Lakes for a week now and the sun shining nicely after work, I called in to Westbere for an hour or so to see how the Norfolk Hawkers were doing. I spent nearly all the time around the ditches before the river and saw c10 Norfolk Hawker in mainly the left hand dyke. I expect if I had wandered on, I would have encountered a few more but I was more than happy where I was. I spent a lot of the time just watching individuals go about their business, defending their territories and resting up at every opportunity. This gave me the chance to settle into a few areas and take a number of images as they flew by or hung on the reeds. Although I have a good number of images, you can never have enough of these beauties I think and I am always looking to improve on what I have taken before.

We have to wait most of the year to see them so I will take every opportunity that passes my way. I managed to see a female land up I suspect after egg laying in the bushes and although she was quite well camouflaged, I spent some time taking a number of images with the macro lens. I shall hopefully post these later in the week if they come out alright. With a few showy individuals and a few more pleasing images obtained, I left them in peace to rest up as the temperature dropped. It won't be too long until their season slowly comes to an end but i'm sure I will be back to check up on them, any maybe take the odd photo too!
