With my new Canon 7d arriving in the week but a busy week at work I was very much looking forward to using it for the first time this weekend, although it seemed the weather had other ideas as plenty of rain and strong winds were forecast. There did however seem to be a good patch on Saturday night where the wind was to drop considerably so with this in mind I decided on an Owl trip to an undisclosed location where I met Chidders around 7.15pm. The weather could not have been better, a clear night with hardly any wind which meant the Barn Owls would hopefully be out hunting. We spent about 4 hours until just after 11pm watching up to 4 Barn Owls hunting along the roadside and sitting up on the posts providing me with some good opportunities to christen my camera. Chiddy helped out with some settings and although frustrating at times but always learning, I ended up with some shots that I am very happy with. Quality wise, I think I can see the difference already and I hope as I get used to the camera this can continue to be the case. Photos or not, It was just a lovely 4 hours spent watching and photographing these stunning birds from close range and hopefully a few more trips to improve on the shots if I can. Thanks again to Chiddy for his company and help, much appreciated.
