The Southern and Scarce Blue tailed Damselfly

One of the main reasons for visiting the New Forest was of course to see the Southern Damselfly and Scarce Blue tailed Damselfly. They can be found in good numbers at Latchmore Brook and thankfully I was able to see them well and take a number of pleasing shots, despite the sun not making the best of appearances. I was particularly keen to see and photograph a male Southern Damselfly and the immature female orange form (aurantiaca) of the Scarce Blue tailed Damselfly. This despite some finding was as striking as I thought it would be and looked like a mini orange highlighter pen in the grass. A superb place which hopefully won't be too long until I make my next visit. A number of shots of both species are below.
