With a day of cloudless blue skies and little wind the temperature soon warmed up throughout the day and so after work I had a drive over to Shuart to see what butterflies were on the wing. I had hoped for an Orange Tip underwing shot but I did not encounter this species at all but hopefully the next few weeks will give me the opportunity to get 'that' shot. As I walked down towards the coast I spent most of the time in the sheltered areas where I noted 2 Peacock, 5 Holly Blue, 2 Comma, 2 Green veined White were seen mating and I spent some time trying to get a few shots of them. Also noted were 1 Large White, 1 Small Tortoiseshell and 5 'Whites' did not stop to be identified. A few birds were noted including 2 Marsh Harrier, 1 Kestrel, 1 Ring necked Parakeet and 1 Blackcap. Lets hope the sun continues to shine as I can feel the butterfly bug starting to take effect!
