With only limited time before work in the mornings, I have
made a few fleeting visits to Reculver this week where I have looked around the
bushes around the towers and immediate area with some success. Birds noted on
the 18th included 1 Swift (135) flying along the clifftop near the
Sand Martin colony, c50 Sand Martin, 6 Willow Warbler, 1 adult Mediterranean
Gull flew west, 1 Wheatear, 4 Swallow and 1 Blackcap. A brief visit today
produced 3 Reed Warbler (136) singing in the reeds at the back of the oyster
farm, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 1 Whitethroat, 2 Sandwich Tern west and whilst scanning
the rocks 1 Common Sandpiper (137) took flight and flew east a little way before
landing again. Also noted were c50 Sand Martin, 7 Willow Warbler and 2
Swallow. A quick look after work produced more or less the same species as earlier but a Stonechat was seen near the sluice on the fence posts.
