With a few birds slowing arriving in the past week I made a 30 minute pre work visit to Reculver where I checked the rocks and bushes around the towers and visitor centre. The sun was trying to come through and at least the wind seemed to have dropped. As I walked along the car park area I soon could see a Black Redstart in front of me feeding on the path near the rocks and I was able to get a few better shots than the other day when I visited. This is probably a bird that has been around for a few days now and seems to like the area around the towers.

Other birds noted were c40 Brent Geese offshore, 2 Meadow Pipits, 1 Redshank, 1 Grey Plover, 5 Sanderling and good numbers of Herring Gull flying east. Throughout the day, news broke of a male Kentish Plover a few miles west up the coast at Swalecliffe. How it would be nice to walk along the seawall at Reculver tomorrow and find this beauty on the beach, I live in hope. If not and the bird is still present at Swalecliffe, I suspect a visit will be made to see this scarce Kent bird.
