After Work Birding!

With the half term holiday starting today I was out of work sharp this afternoon where I drove over to Reculver to see if I could find the Siberian type Chiffchaffs that have been present for a while. The sun made a few appearances but it was mostly cloudy. I spent an hour in the area but failed to find any grey Chiffchaffs at all but there were at least 5 Chiffchaff here. Whilst looking I also managed to see 1 Grey Wagtail, 5 Long tailed Tits, 4 Goldcrest, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, c20 Fieldfare and 2 Bullfinch were seen across the railway line together allowing a few rushed shots before a timely train come past and flushed them.

I failed to see any Woodcock and so moved off to look elsewhere. Not long after I was scanning and area inland where I noted 9 Tufted Duck, 2 Pochard, 6 Gadwall, 7 Mute Swan and in with them was a single Bewick's Swan. Onwards next to the towers where I had a 30 minute walk along the seawall where I noted 1 Red breasted Merganser east, c400 Brent Geese, 3 Mallard, 26 Ringed Plover, c40 Sanderling, 2 Little Egret and 1 Kestrel.
