After having to return back to work this week I have not been able to fit in much birding at Reculver due to the dark mornings and evenings. I managed to make a visit to Reculver this afternoon and spent a couple of hours walking around Brook and West Brook valley in dull conditions trying to top up the year list. Birds seen included 6 Bewick's Swans which gave me the excuse but not a lot of light to grab a shot of all of them for once. There were also 4 Mistle Thrush (66), 7 Mute Swan, 13 Tufted Duck, 3 Teal (67), 3 Pochard, c30 Meadow Pipit flew up in one flock from the fields, c100 Brent Geese could be seen flying around the fields behind the Oyster farm, 1 Sparrowhawk (68), 1 Common Buzzard (69) and 2 Bullfinch (70), a scarce bird to sometimes catch up with in the area were seen in flight. Moving on I noted 1 Great spotted Woodpecker (71), 2 Grey Wagtail, 6 Long tailed Tit (72), 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest and 1 Kestrel ended the session before it started to rain lightly as I reached the car.
