Today and Looking Forward!

It was not the rain for once that provided the challenges today but gale force winds that blew you everywhere on the coast. I arrived at Chambers Wall at 7am and had a few cups of coffee before walking down to Coldharbour and back via the embankment. As not is around at the moment I thought with some predicted sun I could catch up with the Waxwings that have been present and grab a few more shots. All nearly worked out with the sun shining early on but by the time I had found the 4 Waxwings the sun had been covered by clouds and that was the end of that plan. Birds I did note included 316 Cormorant flying in from the south, 1 Golden Plover, c100 Brent Geese, 5 Mute Swan, 26 Oystercatcher, 14 Grey Plover, 1 Greylag Goose, 1 Bar tailed Godwit, 1 Redshank, 2 Curlew, 2 Little Grebe, 2 Reed Bunting, 8 Meadow Pipit, 1 Grey Heron and 1 Marsh Harrier. Tomorrow will be my last visit of the year and as for next year, I am still deciding where to go but looking at other birders choices, I may well stick at Reculver, its treated me well in the last few years. Looking forward into next year I aim to do a lot more butterfly, dragonfly and damselfly photography in the warmer months. I have quite a few species to see and hope to make a few trips to see these, both in and out of the county. Looking back through some photos today I found these Duke of Burgundy shots. Believe it or not these were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 7600 digital compact camera a few years ago when I was just getting into photography. Even though I have been back over the years with better equipment I have found it hard to beat these shots. I shall try again this year if the weather allows. The forecast is for SUN tomorrow so I will hopefully grab a shot or two for my last post of the year.
