This is Getting Addictive!

With a day of warm sun I managed an hour after work again where I decided to have a look over Stodmarsh to see what dragonflies were around. I had only been walking a couple of seconds when I noticed at least 6 Common Darter basking on the wooden fences. The camera was soon firing off a number of shots and I managed a few nice images. Luckily for me they were in fine hunting mode, flying up to catch their prey before once again landing in almost the exact area of fence. Also overhead were 5 Migrant Hawker but none come to rest today for me. I continued on and walked through the alder wood checking the small ponds but not a dragonfly in sight despite the sun and shelter from the breeze. As I neared the end of the path there were more fences in the sun and these had 6 Common Darter and 1 Ruddy Darter. 1 Migrant Hawker flew over but it remained fairly quiet. Bird wise it was also quiet but I did see 6 Chiffchaff, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Great spotted Woodpecker and 1 Sparrowhawk. As the title suggests I seem to be getting addicted to this dragonfly photography and hopefully bringing their magical world a little closer to everyone through my shots. No doubt if I can, the camera will be out again tomorrow briefly.

  2. It certainly is addictive Marc :-) Hopefully next year i can become an addict too. Using a 500mm lens I can only get to 2m, far too distant for nice close images, my 300mm lens gets to 1.5 meters but still too far, I'll get that extension tube come Xmas :-)
