Looking Back at the Demoiselles

With another day of torrential rain at times at work I did not have time to get out after work and so spent some more time this evening going through some shots I have taken earlier in the year. Some I have used before but there are plenty I have not used as of yet. One of my favourites to watch this year has been the Banded Demoiselles. I have spent a few hours at Westbere Lakes watching the antics of these little crackers as they dart out from their perches to chase rival males off their patch. The colours in the sun are truly fantastic and the striking wings add to their character as they flutter up and down the river. I managed on a few occasions to get some pleasing images of them and below are a male and female taken back on the 19th June. No doubt with the predicted rain to come in the next few days I will continue to trawl through the photos for something to share.
