Getting the Goose!

Whilst at work again today I received my daily message from Chris Hindle alerting me that a Pink Footed Goose was at Reculver in fields behind the Oyster farm. Not long after finishing work I made my way over to Reculver where on arrival the wind was very strong and made for a hard walk out to the Oyster farm. I had a quick scan from the towers over the fields and in between a few Gulls in the fields was the lone Pink Footed Goose (166). I walked down to the Oyster farm and along the back path and got some nice views of the Goose which can be a tricky bird to get on the year list. The sun was out but although not that close I rattled off a few shots looking into the sun. Leaving the Goose in peace I then completed the walk around the Oyster farm back to the seawall before returning back west to the towers. The real noticeable movement going on was hundreds of Swallows, probably c500 birds passing by along with a few House Martin. Other birds noted were 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Little Egret, 7 Redshank, 1 Wheatear, 1 Kestrel, 2 Ringed Plover, 10 Cormorant, 5 Oystercatcher, c25 Linnet, 2 Meadow Pipit, 18 Pied Wagtail, 4 Gadwall west at sea, 2 Mute Swan and a good scan of the flock of Starlings at the towers on the lawn did not produce the hoped for Rose coloured Starling. Some sun for tomorrow by the looks of it and possibly a seawatch if the winds go around. Who knows what might be seen!
