I also observed a Hornet a few weeks ago circling a bush containing Willow Emerald Damselflies where occasionaly it would dive into it and try to grab one. I suspect this goes on quite a bit. I've not seen a wasp do this before, but I did observe a Hornet take an Emerald Damselfly once - sadly the action on that occasion was obscured by foliage and about 4 metres up in a tree.
