Midweek Dragonfly Round up

With a bust week so far at work, I have not really been out for any length of time after work but I did managed a brief session yesterday where I spent an hour after work at a private site south of Reculver. In sunny conditions with a light breeze, I noted c200 Common Darter, they seemed to be everywhere and there could have been double of this species easily. I also saw quite a few Ruddy Darter but despite checking through many darters, I couldn't find any Red veined Darter. Moving on I noted 4 Common Emerald Damselfly among the thousands of Blue tailed Damselfly and there were also good numbers of Common Blue and Azure Damselfly. Flying over the water were c10 Black tailed Skimmer and these were kept in check by 3 Emperor Dragonfly and a few Four spotted Chaser. A check of the sedges produced 1 male Scarce Emerald Damselfly and I took a few more shots of this rare species. Despite the short visit, nice to get a few images and it certainly ended the day on a high.
