Remember These Words They Said!

I was up and out of the house this morning at 6am where after having a quick drive around the area I pulled up at the towers. Its seemed to never really get light this morning, the low dark clouds hugging the coast for the duration of my 4 hour session. Its been a real struggle of late at Reculver. There have been a few birds but most have passed through quickly. Hours of walking has not been rewarded as of yet but I hope to find something good soon or throughout the winter. I remember some years ago meeting Derek Smith and Tim Hodge when I decided to do Reculver more often. Their words sticking in my mind " Reculver is a superb place to see birds but you will have lots more days when you see nothing, but when its good, its good". This has been very true and the last few sessions have been hard to motivate myself, but there will be a prize i'm sure if I carry on soon. Back to the birding and walking down to Coldharbour and inland to Chambers Wall and back via the embankment produced 1 Great spotted Woodpecker, 2 Kestrel, 2 Chiffchaff, 1 Grey Wagtail, 1 Grey Heron, 2 Marsh Harrier, c90 Cormorant flew in from the Stour Valley, c300 Dark bellied Brent Geese were in fields behind the Oyster Farm, 1 Kingfisher, 4 Rock Pipit, c20 Meadow Pipit and 6 Redshank.

Wren

There were 17 Ringed Plover, 4 Oystercatcher, c70 Linnet, 24 Reed Bunting, 2 Turnstone, 1 Curlew, 2 Stonechat, 2 Little Egret, c52 Golden Plover, 5 Skylark, 22 Siskin flew west, 5 Little Grebe and a few Chaffinch flocks flew west throughout the morning. Hopefully a visit again in the morning. Maybe my luck will change and that goodie will be waiting to be found!
