A Pleasant Stroll

With the prospect of more showers for today I left home prepared with wellington boots, hats, gloves and waterproofs all on. I started off with a look around the caravan bushes before walking down the seawall to Coldharbour and inland to Chambers Wall before walking back along the embankment and behind the oyster farm. I got a little wet at times but thankfully the rain held off for most of the visit, just a shame the sun never broke through though. A few birds were noted including 2 Grey and 1 Red legged Partridge, c70 Brent Geese, 1 Kingfisher, 7 Fieldfare, 11 Redwing, 4 Stonechat, 5 Common Scoter, 15 Meadow Pipit, 10 Rock Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail, 1 Crossbill west calling and 1 ring tail Hen Harrier spent most of the time around the oyster farm area. There were 2 Snipe, 5 Golden Plover, 5 Dunlin, 3 Ringed Plover, 4 Brambling, 6 Oystercatcher, 31 Redshank, 15 Reed Bunting, 35 Lapwing, 1 Grey Plover, 3 Little Egret and the only photo opportunity of the morning was an obliging Wheatear which was happily catching insects on the beach.

Also seen today included 3 Turnstone, 1 Greenshank, 5 Grey Heron, c300 Wigeon offshore, 5 Shoveler, 10 Skylark, 2 Pintail, 3 Goldcrest, 1 Curlew and 2 Common Darter. Iv'e got 2 weeks off now so hopefully a few good birds will turn up in the area, preferably a showy Pallas's Warbler in the sunshine would be nice!
