With a busy week at work and not a hope of birding in the last week I was eager to get out early this morning so after arranging to meet Phil at 6am I left for home at 5.30am and not long after met Phil at Shuart. I think he must have slept there overnight as he rarely gets out that early but well done for that Phil. We spent a while Owling with some success with 5 Red legged Partridge also noted and it was pleasing to hear many of the commoner birds now in song. We then drove over to Reculver where after our usual cup of coffee we walked on down to Coldharbour in misty and cloudy skies, must be the weekend weather! Not a great deal was noted but I look forward to the next few weeks when hopefully some spring migrants will arrive. Birds we noted were 2 Green Woodpecker, 1 Goldcrest, 1 Mistle Thrush, 6 Pheasant, 4 Pied Wagtail, 1 Kestrel, 18 Shelduck, 1 Great crested Grebe, 3 Sanderling, 8 Curlew, 10 Meadow Pipit, 8 Ringed Plover and 2 Eider were seen.
Eider
There were 2 Rock Pipit west, 30 Oystercatcher, 15 Cormorant, 32 Linnet, 9 Reed Bunting, 1 Little Egret, 5 Golden Plover, 9 Dunlin, 10 Redshank, 10 Grey Plover, 1 Skylark, 11 Turnstone, 2 Knot west, 2 Siskin and 6 Mallard in the Oyster farm. Phil decided to go home and I drover over to Shuart for 45 minutes and again did not see that much. I only could add 4 Goldcrest, 1 Kestrel, 3 Reed Bunting, 7 Lapwing, 2 Red legged Partridge and 2 Long tailed Tit. Roll on mid March!
