Sunny Sunday Stroll

It was almost quite light when I looked out of the window this morning at 6am and after getting ready I had a quick drive around the lanes. Nothing of any Owl activity but it was nice to hear plenty of birds in song. I then drove over to Reculver and completed the same walk as yesterday. The weather was surprisingly cold but the sun soon broke through to reveal a pleasant morning. A scan over the caravans revealed 1 Little Owl which was still in position a few hours later when I passed back by. There were 4 Red legged Partridge, 7 Dunlin, 15 Sanderling, 75 Oystercatcher, 4 Curlew, 8 Mute Swan, 2 Red throated Diver east, 7 Ringed Plover, 7 Shelduck, 2 Little Grebe, c25 Linnet, 7 Meadow Pipit, c200 Brent Geese, 1 Greylag Goose, 30 Redshank and 6 Turnstone.

Curlew

Also noted were 4 Grey Plover, 4 Golden Plover, 5 Reed Bunting, 1 Spotted Redshank, 1 Pied Wagtail, 3 Pheasant, 2 Eider offshore, 11 Mallard, 18 Bar tailed Godwit, 4 Skylark and 1+ Bearded Tit heard near the green wall, photo from yesterday.

Other bits included 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Knot and 1 Grey Heron. I then had a drive up to Bishopstone in the hope of finding a Crest but all I found was that most of Kent were walking their dogs there, not the best conditions for finding birds. I did get a few Woodpigeon shots as every bush seemed to have them in. Hopefully there will be a bit of change in the week with some birds moving into the area.

  1. Great shots Marc! Beautiful Bearded Tit again; that's a lovely perch. I also like the Woodpigeon; different from our pigeons, its a bit better looking.

  2. Now, now Marc, not only birdwatchers enjoy the beauty of this current superb weather, dog walkers are also entitled to their ten pennyworth of the countryside, just enjoy your bit , don't start nit-picking like others I can think of.

  5. Lovely bird images. Nice to have found you. I too, rather fancy pigeons, though a 'serious' birder isn't supposed to admit that.

  6. WOW!
    What lovely photos!
My favorite is definitely the Bearded Tit, also because I do not know this little beauty!
But the Curlew is a must, since I haven't been able to take a decent picture of one so far! :(
    Brilliant!
